Friendly Steps Is Out

Steam launch on September 3, 2026 — buy it, rope up, and report the bugs that still trip you.

Launch Notes

Friendly Steps is live. KORO.GAMES posted the Steam news item Friendly Steps is finally released on launch day, and the store page flipped from a countdown to a purchase block. The dated window this wiki used to treat as upcoming is now a ship date: September 3, 2026, Steam app 4279630, publisher Ytopia.

This page is the day-one briefing. The release date page keeps the calendar history. How to buy is the checkout line. Guides still teach the legs. If a Discord pin and this article disagree, believe Steam, then come back.

What the studio said on launch morning

The launch post is short and useful:

  • The full game is available on Steam right now.
  • A limited launch discount is running; the store block this wiki scraped called it an introductory offer ending 17 September.
  • Co-op is the intended night: invite up to three friends, or try a solo speedrun if your squad is asleep.
  • Coordination uses proximity chat, not a silent rope.
  • If you do not have a crew, the official Discord is the looking-for-group board.
  • No launch is bug-free. Report issues on the Steam forums, mail dev@koro.games, or use the Discord bug channel.

That is the official tone. This wiki will not invent a day-one patch number that Steam news has not published. If a numbered depot drops, it lands here first.

Price, bundle, and what not to invent

Regional Steam prices vary. A European store API snapshot around launch listed €7.99 with 20% off to €6.39. The Steam page this wiki opened also showed a 20% introductory offer ending 17 September. Do not treat a Chinese-yuan or euro widget as a worldwide MSRP. Open the official app page in your own store region before you argue about dollars.

Ytopia also sells a bundle: Ytopia Oddities Collection: MISERY + Friendly Steps. Bundle math changes with each game’s own discount. Check the bundle widget, not a screenshot from June.

Key shops with a blank price are still not a source. This wiki sells nothing.

What the launch store actually lists

Features on the live Steam page, not a press-kit wish:

  • Single-player, online co-op, and LAN co-op for 1–4 players. Steam does not list same-machine split-screen. If your friends are on one couch with one PC, that is Remote Play Together or a LAN box, not a documented four-way split.
  • Full controller support, DualShock, DualSense.
  • Steam Achievements (25), Steam Cloud, Steam Leaderboards, Family Sharing.
  • Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • 14 interface languages, full English audio.
  • Online voice / proximity chat, speedrun mode, customization, emotes, hidden shortcuts, items, and side paths.

Age labels vary by region. Steam’s own mature-content note is beer: references, NPCs drinking, playable characters drinking. A Brazilian listing showed ClassInd 12. A German Steam rating widget showed 12 with alcohol and fantasy violence. An IGRS widget showed 18. This wiki will not flatten those into a fake global PEGI stamp. Treat the product as an alcohol-themed party, not a kids’ walking sim.

User reviews on launch week were still a handful — too few for Steam to print a score. The store quote remains SMii7Y: he knew the game was awesome. That is a blurb, not a Metacritic. Read the review as a consumer briefing, then decide with your own lobby.

What is still coming after launch

Demo 1.4.4 already telegraphed post-release work. The team said they are preparing Steam Workshop support, starting with custom hats and an in-game hat creator that can import a model, preview it, and publish. A scenario / map editor was marked as a later spoiler. Those tools are not documented as live on launch morning. Do not download a random “hat editor” from a mirror. When Workshop ships, Updates will say so, and skins will grow a closet paragraph.

A Discord skin contest ran before launch. Contest winners belong in the closet when they appear in a public build, not as a leaked 200-item spreadsheet.

How to spend launch night

  1. Buy or install from Steam. Confirm app 4279630.
  2. Run the system requirements check. Four ragdolls still want a real GPU.
  3. Learn the mapping on controls before you invite a fourth player.
  4. Start with two people on a city street. The co-op guide is the pull lecture. Proximity chat is now the intended callout layer.
  5. Skip beers until a checkpoint. Items are a difficulty slider, not loot.
  6. If the night is a dare, read Construction or Tornado before you queue them.
  7. If you bounce off the physics, the free demo is still the cheaper practice branch.

Steam Deck compatibility was still Unknown in the store widget this wiki used after launch. Controller support is real. A Verified badge is not. See the Steam Deck page.

Where this page sits in the wiki

The release trailer in the middle of this page is the studio’s launch tape, not a gameplay lecture. Watch it, then open the walkthrough if your friends already left the bar. Tiny steps still win. The rope does not care that you paid full price or used the intro discount.

If a patch note, Workshop drop, or Deck badge appears after this scrape, it will be dated on this hub. Until then, the honest sentence is: the game is out, the city is still mean, and Discord is where the bug reports go.
