Tier List

Friendly Steps Obstacles

The rope is obstacle zero. Everything else is flavor on top.

Obstacles Ranked

This page ranks the objects that actually end runs. It pairs with the route tier list, which ranks whole biomes. Together they are a scouting sheet for the walkthrough.

Ranks again mean danger, not power. S is “this object deletes nights.” D is “this object is a tutorial.”

S-tier obstacles

Open crane arms. No rail, long fall, camera bait. Plant, wait, pull. Construction.

Broken bridge planks. Same pendulum, shorter trailer. The hero screenshot is the manual. One walker must stop or everyone joins the dangling friend.

The rope at full slack off a cliff. Not an environmental prop. If two bodies hang, reset. Crawling up a vertical map is how Tornado eats an hour. Tornado.

A-tier obstacles

Rebar cages. Catch you, then launch you if you stand up inside them. Crawl out.

Stair flights with a racing lead. Each step is safe. The combination is not. Freeze until the anchor is on the same step.

Shortcut beams with a view. Marketing. The view is the trap.

Lantern-only floors. The Trip’s visibility tax. Feet first, skeleton second. Locations.

B-tier obstacles

Benches and trash piles. Shin height. Fine if called, lethal if the lead cuts a corner.

Other pedestrians and cops. They own the lane. You do not win a physics argument with an NPC. Steer around. The street press shot is this problem in color.

Hills. Change stride length. Not scary until someone keeps the sidewalk tap cadence.

Playground equipment. Climbable-looking jokes. Walk around unless you are filming.

C-tier obstacles

Curbs. The first exam. Extra taps to bring the trailing foot up. If a curb dumps you, do not go to Construction tonight.

Puddles and burst pipes. Camera noise, slight footing change. Slow down, do not role-play a flood.

Emote prompts. Self-inflicted. Disable your inner streamer until the rope is vertical. Skins.

D-tier obstacles

The bar door. If you wipe here, you are still looking for the jump button. Return to Controls.

Flat empty sidewalk. Teaching tool. Use it. Do not skip it because it is not cinematic.

Obstacle zero: each other

Body collisions outrank most props. Criken’s session called bumping the hardest part, and that is the ranking this wiki will keep until a patch changes capsule size. Leave slack. Stagger hips. Do not walk as a single blob. The co-op guide is the patch for this obstacle. There is no in-game toggle labeled “please stop hitting me.”

Beer is a multiplier, not an object tier. One bottle can promote a C-tier curb to an A-tier event. Items is the sobriety briefing.

How to scout a new object on launch day

  1. Does it have a rail? If no, treat as A until proven C.
  2. Does it drop farther than a curb? If yes, pull is mandatory.
  3. Does it glow? If yes, it is bait until a teammate has stood on it.
  4. Does it move? If yes, freeze during the movement.

Write new objects into these letters instead of inventing a mythic tier. Friendly Steps is not a gacha. The city is just increasingly rude furniture.

When your lobby starts arguing about a prop, read the letter out loud, then take the long sidewalk anyway. The tier list hub will still be there after the checkpoint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Friendly Steps questions.

What is the most dangerous object?

A teammate with a long stride, followed by a crane with no rail. Props are secondary to rope discipline.

Are cops enemies?

They are collisions and jokes, not a combat system. Walk around them. Fighting the world is how the rope wraps a hydrant.

Should we rank bottles?

No. Bottles multiply every other rank. Leave them unless you chose a clip night, as explained in items.

Where do I go after reading this?

Back to the route tier list to pick a biome, or to the walkthrough to apply it on a night plan.
