Friendly Steps Updates

Demo patches, playtest maps, and the September launch window.

Updates Hub

Friendly Steps is still in the launch window. The full Steam release is scheduled for September 3, 2026. Everything before that date is demo, playtest, and trailer. This hub is the timeline so other pages on the wiki do not contradict each other. Pair it with the release date page and the demo page.

Why an updates hub exists before launch

Players search for patch notes even when a game is upcoming. Friendly Steps earned that search traffic the loud way: a free demo in June 2026, Steam Next Fest, named playtest maps, a 100,000-wishlist post, then a dated launch announcement in August. If you only read the trailer, you miss that Construction, The Trip, and Tornado already had public hours.

This wiki treats those hours as evidence, not as a finished campaign. When the September build ships, new notes will go here first, then into Guides.

Timeline (public)

  • Early 2026. Open playtest and announcement trailer. Official teaser on the KORO GAMES channel.
  • June 4, 2026. Steam demo. Ytopia posts the “demo is out” gameplay trailer.

  • June 19, 2026. Language work and extra skins promised in a small update.
  • June 22, 2026. Construction playtest reopened.
  • June 23, 2026. Developer news that wishlists crossed 100,000 (later 111,000 in the same week).
  • June 29, 2026. The Trip playtest slice for veterans.
  • July 2, 2026. Demo 1.4.4 plus Tornado as the last open playtest. Font rebuild for CJK and Cyrillic. Skin-shop gamepad fixes. Better logging.

  • September 3, 2026. Scheduled full launch. Reviews and stream embargoes on the same date according to the press kit.

What 1.4.4 tells you about the product

A font rebuild for multilingual UI means the 14 Steam languages are a real target. Gamepad shop fixes mean customization is not a debug menu. Logging instructions in-game mean they still want bug reports from Discord. None of that is a combat patch. It is a launch-hardening patch. Read the demo page for the player-facing list.

How this wiki will handle post-launch notes

We will not silently rewrite guides as if the demo never existed. New maps get new child pages. New cosmetics land on skins. Physics changes land on How to walk. If a patch ever adds a jump that is actually a jump, the controls page will say so in the first paragraph.

Until then, if a random site tells you this title shipped last year, ignore it. This title is the 2026 KORO.GAMES / Ytopia physics co-op, Steam app 4279630, not an older namesake.

For official files, use the links hub. For whether your PC is enough on launch morning, use system requirements. For checkout steps, use how to buy. For whether you should even buy it, use the review. Steam still described the full product as not yet available in the last store scrape this wiki used, with the dated unlock on September 3, 2026.

The update cadence is studio-shaped: bursts of playtests, then polish, then a dated launch. Check this hub before a session if your last install is older than a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Friendly Steps questions.

Is the full game out yet?

No. This wiki treats Friendly Steps as upcoming, with a scheduled Steam date of September 3, 2026. A demo has been playable since June.

Which patch should I be on?

If you are on the demo, 1.4.4 is the public polish build described here. After launch, take the latest Steam depot. Details on the demo page.

Where are Construction and Tornado documented?

Playtest maps have guide pages: Construction and Tornado. This hub only stores when they appeared.

Did they really hit 100k wishlists?

That figure comes from the developer's own Steam news in June 2026. Third-party estimators can disagree. We quote the studio post, not a tracker screenshot.
